The Tardis is ready to take off into time and space with its new look & gift box packaging. I spent a good amount of time translating the original sketch into ink with lots of cross hatching and Gallifreyan circles to match the gift soon to be placed inside.
I went for a look similar to the pictures in an book I read in school called “The Phantom Tollbooth” by Norton Juster. I love the shading affect of cross hatching that can be achieved with India ink and a splash of color.
I gave the boxes a final once over with a black border to frame in the picture on their lids and give the whole project a finished look. You can check out the progress below:
Inked and colored with a few washes of watercolor. Trim marks are visible to remind me where trimming will be needed.
A cropped digital copy to check my borders and the overall look of the piece.
The Gallifreyian Tardis trimmed down and ready for scanning for the labels.
Labels printed and scored. One down and ten to go.
All the boxes with their artwork applied and ready for some finality.
The finished boxes ready to receive their special gift and their new owners.
